New Taipei Enhances Childcare Services to Bridge Resource Gaps and Create Family-Friendly Environments

The New Taipei City Government Department of Social Affairs has established public childcare centers.

Following an audit by the New Taipei City Audit Office, it was found that the number of children waiting to be enrolled in public childcare centers remained high. Moreover, some administrative districts lacked public childcare facilities, as well as private childcare services and caregivers, resulting in an uneven distribution of childcare resources. After being requested to improve the situation, the Department of Social Affairs has gradually increased childcare resources to create a more childcare-friendly environment.

Happiness Bus 2.0 Launches in Jiji and Shuili to Boost Nantou’s Rural Transportation Coverage

Nantou County Traffic Engineering and Management Office implemented the Happy Bus 2.0 service plan to improve the transportation needs of people in remote areas.

After an audit by the Nantou County Audit Office, it was found that some townships with inadequate transportation convenience were not included in the Happy Bus service. After being requested to devise improvement measures, the Nantou County Traffic Engineering and Management Office has launched transportation services in Jiji Township and Shui-li Township, thereby enhancing the convenience of medical transportation for the public.

Taiwan Tightens Driver Fitness Checks and Licensing Reviews to Enhance Public Safety

To ensure that drivers of motor vehicles have the proper driving abilities, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications set out the eligibility criteria for drivers' physical examinations and physical fitness tests in Articles 64 and 64-1 of the Regulations Governing Road Traffic Safety. The Audit Division on Transportation and Communication conducted an audit and discovered that the Highway Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications lacked an interagency information correlation or verification mechanism for drivers' physical and fitness changes. After being requested by the Audit Division on Transportation and Communication to review and improve, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has amended the law to include provisions for a mechanism for providing driver data and reviewing driver's licenses.

Yilan County Updates Child & Women Safety Hotspots to Improve Alert Effectiveness

Regarding the designation of maternal and child safety warning locations at each police station in Yilan County, the Yilan County Audit Office found that some maternal and child safety warning locations were announced in a wide area and were unfavorable for warning reminders. Through a letter, we asked for improvement, and each branch has re-examined and updated the maternal and child safety warning locations to strengthen the warning effect.
