International Visit
OECD Head of Public Management and Budgeting Division, Mr. Jon Blondal Visits the National Audit Office
Mr. Jon Blondal, Head of the Public Management and Budgeting Division of the OECD Public Governance Directorate, visited the National Audit Office on May 5, 2026, together with Ms. Scherie Nicol. Deputy Auditor General Lin Ju-ling received the delegation, and colleagues from the National Audit Office (NAO) exchanged views with the visitors on government auditing, budget accountability and public financial management.
The two sides also exchanged views on communicating audit results and engaging the public, noted the common challenge of making lengthy audit reports more usable for legislators and the wider public, and shared trends in OECD countries, including the use of short videos, social media and issue-based communication to increase the impact of audit work.
The NAO noted that, in addition to publishing the full annual audit report in accordance with legal requirements, it has continued to use its website, news releases, and more accessible communication formats to increase the visibility of audit findings.
The meeting also covered topics to be discussed at the OECD Auditors-General and Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions Meeting, including Forum on Restoring Public Finances, Performance Audit: Strategies for Achieving Impact, Balancing Prudence and Innovation in the Public Sector, The Implications of AI on Audit, and Climate and Extreme Weather Events Impacts on Public Finances.
The NAO shared Taiwan's experience in digital audit, AI-assisted audit, green budget oversight, and sustainability-related audit work, and expressed its readiness to contribute Taiwan's perspective in future international exchanges. The visit further strengthened the NAO's professional dialogue with the OECD.
Both sides looked forward to deeper exchanges on public financial management, performance audit, AI-enabled audit innovation, climate-related fiscal risks and the follow-up of audit recommendations, with the shared goal of promoting transparent governance and the effective use of public resources.
