Taiwan Expands Cybersecurity Allowance to Attract More Talent

To attract cybersecurity personnel to agencies responsible for key cybersecurity functions, the Ministry of Digital Affairs obtained approval from the Executive Yuan to implement an additional professional allowance for cybersecurity personnel. Following an audit by the National Audit Office, it was found that the allowance applied only to cybersecurity personnel in certain agencies, making it difficult for other agencies to recruit cybersecurity talent. After being requested to explore improvements, the Ministry expanded the scope of agencies eligible for the additional cybersecurity allowance.

Prosecutors Expand Financial Data Integration to Improve Retrieval Efficiency

The Taiwan High Prosecutors Office established an electronic platform for accessing financial data to enable prosecutorial authorities to quickly investigate the flow of criminal proceeds, preserve evidence in a timely manner, and trace illicit gains. Following an audit by the National Audit Office, it was found that the platform's data did not yet comprehensively cover relevant financial institutions, potentially creating gaps in the tracking of fund flows. After being requested to review and improve the platform, the Office completed the integration of 1,159 farmers' and fishermen's associations (including their branches) and the Ministry of Digital Affairs' "Third-Party Payment Virtual Account Platform."

Taitung Tax Bureau Reviews Stamp Tax Cases and Collects Underpaid Tax

The Taitung County Tax Bureau carried out stamp tax collection and inspection operations.

Following an audit by the Taitung County Audit Office, National Audit Office, R.O.C. (Taiwan), it was found that stamp tax had not been assessed in some cases based on the actual circumstances of enterprises undertaking projects within the jurisdiction. After being requested to make improvements, the Tax Bureau corrected the tax registration data and levied additional stamp tax in accordance with the law to maintain tax fairness.

Tainan City Police Department Adds Surveillance Cameras to Strengthen Public Security

To strengthen public security management, the Tainan City Government Police Department has continued to install and replace the public security surveillance recording system within its jurisdiction.

Following an audit by the Tainan City Audit Division, National Audit Office, R.O.C. (Taiwan), it was found that the system did not effectively cover some crime hotspots and areas surrounding special businesses, making them prone to becoming public security blind spots. After being requested to develop improvement measures, the Police Department conducted an evaluation and prioritized those areas for additional installation, thereby strengthening the protective network in response to public security needs.
