The Audit Division on Education and Agriculture of the National Audit Office found that the Ministry of Education asked school foundations and their affiliated private schools to set up internal control systems and implement self-monitoring, but the internal control objectives prescribed in the systems didn’t include the reliability of the reporting of non-financial information. After the division called for improvement, the ministry revised ‘‘The Regulation of Setting up Internal Control Systems for School Foundations and Affiliated Private schools’’ on May 12, 2017 based on the reports released by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission.
The Tainan City Audit Division found that according to the statistics from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the percentage of funduscopic exams and fundus color exams for patients with diabetes was only 31.68% in Tainan City, and 18 of 37 administrative districts lacked clinics with contracts from the national health insurance, resulting in the inconvenience of taking medical care for the patients with diabetes. After the division called for improvements, the local health bureau provided the remote districts with rotating funduscopic exams for patients from 2017 and matched ophthalmologist to serve in the remote countries, providing medical resources to the villagers and fulfilling the vision of taking medical care of the citizens.
On August 10, 2017, the auditors of the Penghu County Audit Office visited the Le Peng Homeland of the Syin-Lu Social Welfare Foundation and donated fifty thousand Taiwanese dollars to the Homeland. The Homeland was founded by the Penghu County Government in 2016 and the government contracted its operation to the foundation. It is the only organ that provides full-day care services, and the services are prioritized for the Penghu County residents who are over 35 years old, with moderate or severe intellectual disability and full-day care needs. the Considering the Penghu offshore island has fewer population and poor economic environment, compared to the main island of Taiwan, the auditors showed their care about social welfare through their visit and donation.
