Taipei City Tax and Collection Office Rectifies Tax Records and Recovers Tax Revenues to Maintain Tax Fairness

The Taipei City Tax and Collection Office collects land value tax and license tax.

Following an audit by the Taipei City Audit Division, it was found that some land was not assessed based on actual use, some vehicles that had not paid taxes or had their license plates revoked were illegally used on public roads, and tax refunds and penalties were not processed in accordance with regulations. After being requested to review and improve, the office corrected tax information and rectified tax amounts including penalties, thereby maintaining tax fairness.

The CDIC Completes Disposal of All Retained Assets to Safeguard National Treasury Interests

To assist the government in addressing poorly managed financial institutions, the Central Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) has, since 2011, taken over and managed retained assets originally assumed by the Executive Yuan’s Financial Restructuring Fund. An audit by the National Audit Office found that CDIC’s liquidation operations for these assets had lasted more than 10 years, with more than half remaining undisposed. After being requested to take corrective measures, CDIC completed the auction or transfer of all retained assets, thereby safeguarding national treasury interests.

National Police Agency Enhances Intelligent Policing Assistance System to Boost Utilization and Vehicle Tracking Efficiency

To improve the efficiency of police patrol duties, the National Police Agency (NPA) of the Ministry of the Interior promoted the implementation of an intelligent policing assistance system.

An audit by the National Audit Office revealed suboptimal utilization of the system across the municipal and county police departments to which it was allocated. Following an official request issued to the NPA for review and corrective action, the system’s utilization rate has progressively increased, continually enhancing the effectiveness of tracking suspicious vehicles through its automated license plate recognition feature.

Ministry of Digital Affairs Expands Mobile Natural Person Certificate Applications to Increase Users and Service Scope

To create a basic environment for digital services, the government develops mobile natural person certificates to enable people to quickly log in to relevant services at any time and place.

The National Audit Office found that the number of users and the range of services to which mobile natural person certificates can be applied are limited. The Ministry of Digital Affairs was requested by letter to assist the Ministry of the Interior in reviewing and improving the services, and it has continued to expand the application areas and increase the number of users.
