The surveillance system did not cover some public security hotspots in Hsinchu County Police Bureau. The audit office has urged improvements, and security measures have since been strengthened

To maintain public security and enhance crime detection and prevention, the Hsinchu County Police Bureau has continuously expanded its surveillance system. However, an audit conducted by the Hsinchu County Audit Office revealed that certain public security hotspots were not covered by the surveillance system, creating potential blind spots for law enforcement. Upon receiving an official recommendation for improvement, the Police Bureau prioritized the installation of additional surveillance equipment in these high-risk areas, thereby strengthening the security protection network.

 

 

Some properties in Taoyuan City were not taxed according to their actual use. The audit office has urged corrections, and tax records have been rectified, with back taxes collected.

The Department of Taxation, Taoyuan, is responsible for tax collection operations. An audit conducted by the Taoyuan City Audit Division found that certain properties were not assessed for house tax and land value tax based on their actual usage. Following an official recommendation for improvement, the Department of Taxation rectified the tax registration records and, by law, retroactively collected land value tax and house tax totaling over NT$649.3 million, thereby upholding tax fairness.

 

 

Pingtung County government's management of construction surplus earth and stone materials was inadequate, the audit office has urged improvements, and relevant Self-government Ordinances have been revised.

To prevent the random disposal of construction surplus that could lead to environmental pollution, the Pingtung County Government revised the Pingtung County Self-government Ordinances to manage construction surplus. However, an audit conducted by the Pingtung County Audit Office revealed that these regulations had not been updated promptly and did not align with the goals of the National Land Management Agency, Ministry of the Interior, which promotes comprehensive management of construction surplus. This created difficulties in responding to the demand for construction waste exchanges in public works projects and hindered effective monitoring. Following the audit, the county government made amendments to the regulations.

 

 

Some municipal and county government agencies used software with cybersecurity concerns or non-government software. NAO has urged the Administration for Cybersecurity to improve, and relevant measures have been taken to enhance overall government cybersecurity protection

To prevent the improper theft of official and sensitive information, the Executive Yuan issued a directive in 2020, prohibiting all government agencies from using software with cybersecurity concerns and from installing non-official software. However, an audit conducted by the National Audit Office found that some municipal and county government agencies were still using such software. After the audit, the Administration for Cybersecurity, Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) was urged to take corrective action, and relevant measures have since been implemented to address the issue and enhance the overall cybersecurity protection of the government.
